N.J. fire chiefs’ union backs Christie’s re-election bid

The New Jersey Career Fire Chiefs Association endorsed Governor Christie’s re-election bid today, a month after a firefighters union backed his likely Democratic challenger.
The association represents about 150 active and retired professional fire chiefs who oversee more than 6,000 firefighters across the state.
“If I had to pick one word as to why we chose to endorse Governor Christie, it would be ‘Leadership,’ plain and simple,” Paterson Fire Chief Michael Postorino, president of the chief’s association, said in a statement. “We are proud to offer our endorsement and view this as a reflection of the governor’s willingness to listen, engage and work closely with leaders of the fire service.”
