Christie cites partnership in tour of new Panasonic headquarters in Newark

Governor Christie toured Panasonic’s new office tower in Newark Tuesday, pointing to the building as an example of leaders putting partisanship aside to improve the state’s economy.

The Japanese electronics company’s North American headquarters was previously in Secaucus. But it moved into the Newark building after receiving a $102 million tax credit from the state’s Economic Development Authority. It completed construction earlier this year.

Christie said the work involved in keeping the company in New Jersey and getting the new tower built “doesn’t get done unless both parties work together – unless everybody decides that they want to put partisan politics aside and they want to get things done.”
