NJGOP Rejects Senate President Sweeney’s Rhetoric On Limited Government Initiative

Trenton, NJ – Following the press conference lead by Senate President Sweeney today, the NJGOP Chairman released the following statement:

“Over the past six months, our state government has been put on course toward becoming increasingly weaker and poorer. Our unemployment rate lags behind the rest of the country, companies with a rich history here are relocating to more affordable states and just a few weeks ago our state government passed a budget that significantly raised taxes, which a majority of CPAs say will hurt our economy. More than ever, people are struggling to pay the premium to live in a state with diminishing returns.

“The current Democrat lead overtures coming out of Trenton calling for smaller government is just more liberal hypocrisy. Today, Trenton Democrats tell us that the New Jerseyans are overtaxed and overwhelmed, but it was just yesterday that these same Democrats voted to grow NJ government by $2 billion, raised taxes by another $1.3 Billion and pursues the highest corporate business tax in the Country.

“While their words today say they want to own the lower tax narrative, their actions kill it.”
