Steinhardt to Malinowski: Come Clean with Constituents or Return Corporate PAC Money

.
NJGOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt told Congressman Tom Malinowski to come clean with his constituents or return the corporate PAC money he’s claiming he doesn’t take.
.
“Congressman Malinowski is peddling a lie to his constituents about his independence and refusal to take corporate PAC money,” said Chairman Steinhardt. “The truth is, Malinowski takes money from lobbyists and Leadership PACs that are funded by corporate PACs. He has a nearly identical voting record with Nancy Pelosi. He is a career Washington insider who always puts himself first. He is the furthest thing from independent.”
.
Public records reflect that Tom Malinowski has taken $138,000 from Leadership PACs this cycle and took $146,200 in 2018

.Roll Call noted that “Reps. Jason Crow of Colorado, Virginia’s Abigail Spanberger, Michigan’s Elissa Slotkin, New York’s Max Rose and New Jersey’s Tom Malinowski are among freshman Democrats who reported contributions during the year’s first quarter from party leaders, leadership PACs and other committees that take corporate dollars.”

.Politico noted that some lawmakers, including Malinowski, “who’ve taken the pledge have defended their decisions to reject corporate PAC money while accepting money from lobbyists and other PACs funded by them. “I’ve never thought that the lobbyist definition was particularly meaningful,” said Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-N.J.), who was once a lobbyist himself for Human Rights Watch, a nonprofit.
