Assemblyman Ronald S. Dancer was selected by the Ocean County Republican Committee to fill the term of the late Assemblyman Melvin Cottrell. The assemblyman was sworn to the Legislature on November 18, 2002.

Mr. Dancer served as the Mayor of Plumsted Township for 22 years from 1990 through 2011 and continues to volunteer as the Township’s Business Administrator. In February of 2011, Mayor Dancer was inducted into the “Elected Officials’ Hall of Fame” by N.J. State League of Municipalities.

Since 1985, Mr. Dancer has been a member of the Ocean County Board of Social Services and currently serves as Chairman. Mr. Dancer is actively involved in a number of other civic affiliations which include the Ocean County Natural Lands Trust Fund Advisory Committee, Ocean County Senior Citizens Advisory Council, Ocean County Human Services Advisory Council; Plumsted Township Planning Board since 1978, and the Plumsted Township Municipal Utilities Authority.

Mr. Dancer is a former Commissioner of the N.J. Horse Racing Commission and Trustee of the N.J. Department of Agriculture’s Sire Stakes Board. He is employed with the Ocean County Adjuster’s Office. He and his wife Brenda have two children and three grandchildren. Mr. Dancer is a life long resident of Plumsted Township and is a former horseman and the son of the late National Hall of Fame Harness Horse Racing Driver Stanley Dancer.

Rob Clifton was officially sworn into his first term in the General Assembly on January 10, 2012, Prior to his election to the Assembly, Clifton served three terms as a Monmouth County Freeholder, where he last served as the Director of the Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Clifton is employed by Comcast Cable Corporation as the Director of Government and Community Affairs, a position he has held since 2001. Prior to joining Comcast, he was Director of Industry Relations for the New Jersey Pavement and Asphalt Association, where he acted as a liaison between the trade association and municipalities throughout the state regarding road improvement issues.

Clifton was born and raised in Matawan, where he attended local elementary schools. He graduated from St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Rider College (Lawrenceville, N.J.), and a master’s degree in Political Science at the University of Richmond (Va.).

Clifton and his wife, Tracy, reside in Matawan with their two sons, R.J. and Jack.
