Herald News – Christie gets chance on big stage
August 15, 2012The extraordinary rise of Governor Christie from an obscure — and rejected — Morris County freeholder to one of the top Republicans in the nation is now complete. Mitt Romney made sure of that this week, officially tapping the governor as the keynote speaker at this month’s Republican convention in Tampa. What Christie will do with this golden opportunity remains to be seen.
The never-shy Christie has been in office for more than two years, has been a YouTube sensation and has traveled the country to campaign for Republican candidates. But his speech on Aug. 28, the second night of the convention, likely will be the first time millions of Americans see him in action.
