With Governor Christie pushing to gain Hispanic support for his reelection bid, his campaign released its first Spanish language commercial in the general election cycle today.
The 30-second advertisement shows the Republican governor with state Sen. Brian Stack, the mayor of Union City and one of many Democrats who are supporting him, and alongside members of the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey. It promotes Christie’s collaboration with Democrats, his record-high education funding in this year’s budget and his leadership during Superstorm Sandy.
Leo Cervantes, owner of Chilangos Mexican Restaurant in Highlands, which Sandy destroyed, appears in the ad praising the governor.
“Governor Chris Christie has been a source of support for the entire community,” Cervantes says in Spanish at the end of the ad. “He is a good governor, a good friend, someone who is there for us, so we’ll support him.”
