RELEASE: NJGOP Chairman Statement On Tax Day
April 17, 2018Trenton, NJ –Â NJGOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt released the following statement on Tax Day:”Today we begin the 365 day countdown until next year’s Tax Day, when most of Governor Murphy’s multitude of initial tax increase proposals will hit the bank accounts of New Jersey families for the first time. Like a kid waiting for Christmas, the Governor will be waiting all year to get his hands on our taxpayer dollars to pay for his over $3 billion in new spending. We’re facing new business taxes, a new sales tax and a new income tax that the nonpartisan Office of Legislative Services confirmed will drive people out of state and further shift the tax burden to the middle class. Just today, Gerber announced they are moving their longtime New Jersey headquarters to Virginia for a better tax package.
“The NJGOP will remain committed to opposing Governor Murphy’s unaffordable agenda. I encourage everyone in New Jersey to use this day to reflect on whether more taxes and more spending is truly what they need from their state government. If not, please know that the doors at NJGOP are always open for you, and we are happy to show you how to help.”
